Black Sesame & Date Smoothie
Black sesame paste is one of the most nutrient-dense ingredients you can blend, extraordinarily rich in calcium for bone health, magnesium for muscle function, zinc for immune support, and lignans with powerful antioxidant properties; in addition it adds a deep, nutty complexity to any recipe. Medjool dates provide natural fast-release sugars for glycogen replenishment alongside fibre, potassium, and iron. It’s a combination made in heaven! Soya milk delivers a complete plant protein source with isoflavones for hormonal balance and cardiovascular support, our favourite brand is Bonsoy.
Ingredients
- 40g Pureblend Protein
- 1 tbsp Black sesame paste
- 1 Medjool date (pitted)
- 40g Frozen banana
- 250ml Unsweetened soya milk
- 5g Form Micronised Creatine Monohydrate
- ¼ tsp Vanilla extract
- 4 Ice cubes
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to blender and blend on high for 45–60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a glass. Finish with a sprinkle of black sesame seeds and a light drizzle of black sesame paste.
- Black sesame paste (not tahini) is key — it has a deeper, more roasted, slightly bitter flavour than its white sesame counterpart
- Medjool dates are naturally very sweet. Remove the stones before blending.
- If you have a sweet tooth you can also add one or two drops of monk fruit or stevia
